Is there any good/excellent book in English that gives a very good lay man insight on the workings of the Sharia Law ecosystem. ?
I would recommend the book “Essay And Addresses On Arab Laws” by W.M. Ballantyne. It gives an excellent and very good insight on the workings of Islamic/Sharia Law legal system and has a chapter of Arbitration as practised there. It has a very good chapter on Arbitration in the 13 Gulf States and deals extensively on handling pitfalls. It is not as simple as envisaged on account that you are operating in an Islamic/Sharia law ecosystem which is not the same as for those who grew up in a common law country in their formative years.
A second very good read would be “Construction Law in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf” by Micheal Grose
